A subdomain is part of a web address that's under the main domain name, for example name.example.com. Technically, even in www.example.com the "www" part is a subdomain because the fully qualified domain name is only "example.com". Every single subdomain can have its own web site and records and can also be hosted using a different provider if you wish to use a specific feature that is not provided by your current service provider. An example for using a subdomain is if you have a business site along with an online store under a subdomain where customers can buy your products. You can even have a forum where they can talk about the products and by using subdomains instead of subfolders you'll avoid any risk of all websites going down if you perform maintenance, or update one of the site scripts. Keeping the websites separated is less risky in case there is a script security breach.
Subdomains in Shared Hosting
Our shared hosting plans will enable you to set up countless subdomains for any domain name hosted inside your account without any difficulty. If the main domain address is added, it requires 2 mouse clicks to set up a subdomain and pick what folder it'll open (if different from the default one), set unique error pages, activate FrontPage Extensions, set a shared IP address or a dedicated one, and more. All subdomains are going to be conveniently listed in alphabetical order under their main domain for effortless access and control. By right-clicking on any one of them and by using instant access buttons you can view the error logs, visitor statistics or website files for that particular subdomain. We haven't set a limit for the amount of subdomains which you can create with any one of our plans, so you can have as many as you want.
Subdomains in Semi-dedicated Hosting
Our Linux semi-dedicated hosting packages don't have a set limit for the amount of subdomains you can create. Adding a new subdomain in the account takes only a couple of mouse clicks inside the Hepsia hosting CP and throughout the process you can choose the folder the subdomain is going to access if it will be different from the default one, create custom error pages, activate FrontPage Extensions if you need them or create a dedicated IP address instead of the shared server one if you have added this upgrade to your semi-dedicated account. After the subdomain is created, you can access logs and visitor statistics or quickly jump to the site files for it in the File Manager section via instant access buttons. All subdomains that you've got inside the account will be conveniently listed under their root domain, so you'll be able to find and manage any of them easily.
